HALTING STATE

Halting state is a Charles Stross SF novel and also the current state of this blog.
My right arm has a fracture of the neck of the radius bone. It doesnt require a cast or metal pins but I'm typing one handed and will have my right hand in a sling or a week or longer so ... well even using my phonecam onehanded will be awkward.

So this blog is on hiatus! Cos just typing this catch up post is uncomfortable!

The Breaker

This machine is used for breaking up concrete slabs.

It was recently in use at the building site on the corner of Pound Road.

I'm surprised no other Hornsby photographers noticed this opportunity?

Yes it is a rather severe crop but the crop emphasizes the angles that caught my eye and the contrast of thick and thin against the clouds!

Duet with raindrops

Duet with Raindrops

Stilling overcast in Hornsby though the sun is making an attempt to escape the clouds. I'm stuck at home with my "delightful" chronic sinus bronchitis condition flaring up after being fine for months. Oh well I can edit photos and images.

Rose hips

Have you ever considered the beauty of rosehips. These are the berry or fruit of roses and what caught my eye was the pattern of angles against the gray stone tiles.

Accidental Typography at Hornsby

This is a shop sign at Hornsby. I showed a snippet on FB and Google and a couple of people wanted to see more. So here's the photos at a slighter higher resolution?

The summer heat has actually made the lettering more interesting with the curl effect. Or not? Please note both photos copyright Julie Vaux 2014

Cristmas is coming

Christmas is coming and with it discount sales.

I'ld love to buy a new better camera so people if you have enjoyed my photos please let other people know about this blog or about my Cafepress Shop

Voxy Visions

I need the extra income since I have an UNPAID "vacation" due to community colleges and art centres and TAFE that provide me with casual work shutting down to February.

... and since TAFE funding cuts reduced my work hours this year ....

oh and I also donate part of all sales to charity so if you make a modern ironic Xmas card let people know about this design and if you don't please try to buy cards that donate part of their proceeds to local charities?

and follow this blog ... I usually design and give away at least one free to download  e-card  file sometime in december.

Clivia Buds

Copyright Julie Vaux 2013

CLIVIAS They're bright cheerful and VERY VERY ORANGE !

So much so we overlook the more subtle and delicate tints of the buds as they open. If your clivias are about to open don't watch for the full bloom. Enjoy those buds too!

Spring Plants and CUTTINGS AVAILABLE NOW

Copyright Julie Vaux 2013

Need some succulent cuttings? Cant get to the Hornsby Markets?
Well this tree needs pruning. I'll sell cuttings $5 small $10 larger branches. You can inspect and choose your own branches to cut. The only limit I place is that if I think your cut will unbalance the look of the tree I may give you another for free or suggest you cut a different branch?

I also have a whole cactus a frangipani and other succulents plus an orchid.

Too Short a Season

Copyright Julie Vaux 2013

DRAT. Due to the dry winds and the weather shifting from a lot of rain to very little looks like the Magnolia season will be shorter than usual this year!

Here's one you can view all year around.

The splendid tree in front of Centrelink has nearly lost all its flowers already however some trees are still in bloom.

More Burra Watch 3

Copyright Julie Vaux 2013
The bird's not fat. They can like to fluff out their feathers when they're perching perhaps to keep their feet warm or maybe to lower their body heat?

I don't feed them. They visit for the visit and cos we don't have a dog or cat.
