Australia Day is coming

Copyright Julie Vaux 2015

Australia Day is coming soon!
Don't forget 2 things

1) You are Australian Born here or Migrated and a Citizen if ... well for one thing you know OZ doesn't just refer to the Frank Baum Books.
We do have cultural values ... respect the Aussie Battler give everyone migrant or native a fair go ... buy Australian ... learn to endure the Fire and Flood cycle ... distrust foreign authority .... patriotism shouldn't be over done or excessive but some days are Special... Australia Day Anzac Day November the 11th ... Asian New Year cos even if you're not Asian we all love our fusion Asian Aussie foods like the local version of Cantonese Custard Tarts etc or noodle dishes with Aussie seafood!

2) You don't have to go all the way into the city to see fireworks!

Check out what's on locally. Even if you don't want to join crowds it might turn out you can get a good view from your window ... and I'm hoping the @##$%$%@ D@59@s building doesnt block too much of my view of the West Pymble fireworks.

finally that logo above is available ... yes here's the ad but hye support a local designer 100 % OZ items like tees and stickers can be purchased from

Do visit please?

Spot the lorikeet

Spot the lorikeet
a couple of photos that show just how well those brightly colored feathers can blend in with trees in Reddy Park.

I could hear they up in the trees and I'm farsighted not shortsighted but it still took me five minutes to spot them. These birds are bright green red and blue but at a distance those intense hues blend to a dark shadow. Amazing!

Snow white snow bright bloom

Since we get rain rather than snow in winter in this area unless there's a severe frost we often get flowers in what should be winter in this temperature zone.

150 posts and wifi

150 posts and may there be many more!

I'ld love to see some reader feedback please?

Remember you can follow me on a mobile it you have one that's gets the web so why not bookmark this blog if you have a social hub or similar app?

I'll be blogging from my laptop and also my new Samsung Galaxy 2 droid mobile this year. Probably more from my mobile due to local interference to my wifi signal which is one of the many reasons I've updated to a more expensive mobile.

I do not know why but the Galaxy gets better wifi reception than my Sony Vaio laptop but I can now understand why the galaxy range is so popular especially if you cant afford Apple much as I 'ld love to have an ipad  or macprobook!

Do you have wifi reception problems? How did you stop them? Who or what do you think causes them?

Please share any solutions!

Beating the Heat?

Beating the Heat!

Here's a Tip for a cheap treat!

Go over to the Ton Yon or one of our other Asian grocery stores in or near the mall and see if they have any packets of Vietnamese frozen coconut flesh and juice combined. These are small and compact and willnt take up too much room in the fridge and cost even less than icecream. Take them up to defrost and when they're reacehd the mushy stage cut the packet out along the top and pout the white soft cocnut flesh and the juice into a glass or bowl. Enjoy the chilled juice by itself or add something to it to make it even tastier .

Try it soon!

MY Final Selection The Bathers

I had nine shots I picked to be my final selections for the Hornsby Council Photo Comp.

Only two of mine got picked Spooky Window for the Buildings categories and Lest We Forget for the Bushland Shire Category.

I'm going to describe why I picked the others.Starting with this one.

Copyright J. Vaux 2012
This version has had its resolution and size reduced for the web.

So why a shot of the "winged rats"? Or the Avian Yuppies as I call them!

I liked the contrasting feather colors and the balance yet contrast of greens and greys.

It always amuses me the way the pigeons treat the fountain at Hornsby Park as if it was their personal swimming pool.  I hope I captured something of the pigeons at home attitude?
