MY Final Selection The Bathers
I had nine shots I picked to be my final selections for the Hornsby Council Photo Comp.
Only two of mine got picked Spooky Window for the Buildings categories and Lest We Forget for the Bushland Shire Category.
I'm going to describe why I picked the others.Starting with this one.
This version has had its resolution and size reduced for the web.
So why a shot of the "winged rats"? Or the Avian Yuppies as I call them!
I liked the contrasting feather colors and the balance yet contrast of greens and greys.
It always amuses me the way the pigeons treat the fountain at Hornsby Park as if it was their personal swimming pool. I hope I captured something of the pigeons at home attitude?

Red Brick Classic
The Red Brick Classic is both mocked and respected as an Australian housing style.
This local example is at 42 Dural Street Hornsby and currently for sale.
I normally don't use real estate agent shots but this one was quite good and fairly accurate and taken at an angel that shows classics features of this style.White paint on white frames, the red tile roof, small but distinctive porch, oh and if you check the real estate ads, yes it really is a reasonable walking distance from the station and shops. Another feature of this style is good solid construction and sound brickwork.
Some people think the red brick classic is dull however I rarely hear complaints about shonky building with this style or pest infestations.
If you're in the market to buy a house take a look or just take a walk anyway and study a classic australian suburban style.

The Tale of Scruffy
The Tale of SCRUFFY
Scruffy is another visitor ot my balcony. I think birds of several species visit cos we're on the corner of the building and they can get a down draft or thermal.
Wet weather or dry Scruffy always looks bedraggled poor thing and I suspect he or she is an escaped or released pet as sometimes Scruffy tries to talk well mumble sounds that are almost words.
Do be kind to Scruffy if he / she visits. Apart form the mumbling s/he is a quiet bird WHO I HAVE NEVER CAUGHT chewing plants or outdoor furniture.
I sometimes suspect if I put a cage with an open door out the balcony with a full tray of food I'd come back to find poor Scruffy inside it with a grateful expression!?
Oh if you have see or know Scruffy wherever does s/he get that stains his / her feathers?
Can you solve that mystery?
