An Aussie Classic House

Here's a classic and well maintained example of an Iconic Australian architectural style the humble fibro cottage.

Readers and visitors I was doing some research at the library and found to my horror there were very few photos of local historical housing styles apart from some 19th Arts and Crafts buildings. Yet Hornsby Shire has a wide variety of building styles so I'm going to be putting up more shots of houses and shops.

Heritage isnt architect designed Arts and Crafts or Federation or colonial!

Local Lasiandra

Local Lasiandra Tree

One thing thats special apart from their being purple is that lasiandras tend to change color depending on the light.

The petals are just thin enuff tho they look thick  that depending on  time of day and angle of light when you're  photos  the color in the resulting images varies. 

Lasiandras are semi tropical in origin and are at their best after rain.

If you think you have one dont over prune it. Yes they tend to get very plain even dull before they flower but its worth waiting for them to flower!

Urbane Wolf

This Urbane Wolf may be a BIG dog but he's a very civil gentleman. I was walking along loooking for flowers to photograph and he was sunning himself in the driveaway and gave me a very laid back look and so I decided to take a photo. Possibly a little bit of vanity going on here since he also gave the camera a knowing look that seemed to suggest he knew I was trying to make him look splendidly relaxed?

Need a short commercial lease in Hornsby?

Yes folks its still empty!

A large shop space on the corner of Pacific Highway and Pound Road that has parking behind it!

What a snafu ! After forcing the liquor store then a chemist shop and the bike store  to move out cos supposedly a block of apartments was going up now its empty wasted space AGAIN!

Oh and I suspect you might get a longer than six month lease since the signs above the site for the development have been taken down?

So if you know any one who wants to test the waters as to the viability of their business with a short term lease ...

Honestly there ought to be a law turning over unrented shops to community organisations at a heavily discounted rent.

This large flat shopspace could make a great indoor play area for local children during holidays.

I suppose there's no chance the owners could do the right thing and donate the space?

They're certainly not making any money from it at the moment?

Pity it's NOT a park?

This is one of the last remaining undeveloped open spaces near the Hornsby "CBD".

What a pity its not a park?! Who actually owns this? The RSL? Council? Some developer?

Perhaps the uneven slope is deterring them from building on it?

Having seen the slope from the top and the bottom if it does end up being a car park or town house perhaps who ever builds there might want to donate the bottom of the slope as a public community garden?

Why do so? You'll be spared the expense of terracing it! Your tenants will have a place to sit and have lunch and your neighbours will have a spot that's shaded in the afternoon.

Whoever owns it do something with it!

It's a wasteland at the moment and it doesnt need to be so!
