Clover Meadow Memories
Most of us don't think about what those patches of clover that pop up in the lawn really mean?
If you have clover popping up dont rip it up. It's good for your lawn and healthier than other grass plants.
It's also a memory of the time when your back or front yard or grass strip by the kerb was part of a meadow or pasture for cows or horses. Think about those pioneering farmers?
Oh and any local bee keepers will be happy since honey bees like clover!
Even though Hornsby is no longer orchards and cow pastures with farmers using the morning trains to send milk closer to the city echoes of their meadows still remain!

Carrots have a Wild Cousin
QUEEN ANNE'S LACE
Queen Anne's Lace is often a feral weed in Australia and you can see it growing near the railways tracks near Hornsby station and Pretoria Parade. It's a relative of the carrot and is as much a herb as a weed. I suspect since its not a native plant some early colonist brought seeds over from the UK for a herb garden and like so many other plants it went wild.

Morning Glory
Morning glory. Many people think of it as a weed and it cna be a pest but its still lovely.
This photo was taken in the afternoon not the morning. If you do like morning glory especially if its not in your own yard where you have to prune it check out the roadway behind the Meriton Units that runs from Pretoria Parade and at the end walk back up to the main bridge and enjoy the patch next to the bridge.
Actually its also growing up over the bridge railing again so its over due to to pruned back?

Why we should value the CWA
Why we should value the CWA ... wherever they end up moving or not moving to.
What can we give back to them?
Seriously folks community organizations need to have meeting space that's near public transport and I don't just mean the library meeting room cos some of them need workspace for projects too!

CWA reminder Closure so?
Looks like the closure will go ahead unless something changes drasticly.
Note to Horsnby Advocate most of us remember enuff high school maths to work out that 75% of a poll which only 325 people responded to PROBABLY does not translate to 75% of all of Hornsby?
BAD maths does not help!

Ukeleles Galore in a Hornsby Shop
Which Hornsby shop has the largest rang eof Ukeleles I've ever seen!
Pro Guitar and Sound is right next to the Rock and Roll cafe on the West side of Hornsby!
There's a connecting door thru to the cafe and a street entry too!
It's right next to ht epedetrian crossing over to the Post Office and Coronation Street!
Do I "hear" anyone thinking those cant all be ukeleles!?
Yes they are. The Humble Hawaiian variant of a small Portugese guitar now comes in soprano tenor baritone tonal rnages plus a hybrid with a banjo and some shpaes that look like mandolins but the back curve is flatter. I dont play myself but they do look lovely on the wall!
