The Pleasantness of Plums!

PLUMS!

A personal Recommendation!

If you're wandering thru the markets on Thursday try the Plums!
This year while other crops have been damaged by the rain the plums seem to be thriving!

Delicious especially the Amber Jewels!

Pity it's NOT a park?

This is one of the last remaining undeveloped open spaces near the Hornsby "CBD".

What a pity its not a park?! Who actually owns this? The RSL? Council? Some developer?

Perhaps the uneven slope is deterring them from building on it?

Having seen the slope from the top and the bottom if it does end up being a car park or town house perhaps who ever builds there might want to donate the bottom of the slope as a public community garden?

Why do so? You'll be spared the expense of terracing it! Your tenants will have a place to sit and have lunch and your neighbours will have a spot that's shaded in the afternoon.

Whoever owns it do something with it!

It's a wasteland at the moment and it doesnt need to be so!

An Old fashioned Beauty

Copyright J. Vaux

This old fashioned beauty is the humble "Corn Flower" a garden plant in Australia which grows wild or in gardens in Europe. Like many other European triaditonal garden favorites its increasing less commonly seen in Australian gardens due to water requirements and the trend towards native plants.

Persoanlly I think out gardens should be as multicultural as modern Australia is but I'm also biased cos I love blue flowers and want to see more of them! The humble corn flower has many uses apart from just being small blue and beautiful. Also known as bachelor's button and Centaury  the flowers and leaves do have medical and dye uses!

Art Supplies in Hornsby

The Best Art Supply Shop in Hornsby is also to my knowledge the oldest one.

If there was a competition and prize it would undoubtedly go to Hornsby Art Supplies.

So where is it? On George St. You cna see it from the walkway over from the statio.

Either park in the mall or walk form the station or bus stop and go there first before you go anywhere else.

THEY HAVE THE BEST AND WIDEST RANGE.

and do student discounts!

Usually I would place the Co-op shop up at Hornsby TAFE Second but they've been taken over by the Student Association and as I post this the shop has reduced its range of products however if you are a student or know one who can go shop for you if you want discounted prices on visual art diaries and art papers go here!

I understand some of the products that were previously on display will now be sold or provided from the student association as kits via the departments ?

Where else can you go?

We do have a couple of small shops that cater to crafts further up George st and also the big Officeworks.

Many of their stationery items are also useful for artists.

All the discount stores stock canvas and Chinese made art supplies form Montmatre and Reno.

The next main art supply store is the RIOT shop in the mall!

All of these are worth looking at!

Further a field if you can catch the train to West Ryde or drive do also visit Artscene down there?!
